Hello and welcome to my online gallery.

My name is Darren and I am a self-taught UK artist (based in East Sussex) selling my original art & prints around the world.

I paint in detail, mostly landscape ‘off the beaten track’ scenes of the surrounding Sussex countryside.

Working primarily with acrylic paint, capturing nature and the atmosphere of the scene on the day.

Much of my inspiration comes from the Sussex countryside, the ancient woodland, the gentle streams, and the old paths that wind through the South Downs.

I’m drawn to places with a sense of stillness and history, and I try to bring that atmosphere into each painting. My work often begins with simple observations on a walk, building gradually into detailed pieces that focus on light, texture and the feeling of being there.

Alongside my landscape work, I also create fantasy pieces that grow from the same love of atmosphere and storytelling. These paintings let me explore imagined worlds while still using the same layered, detailed approach I use in my Sussex scenes. For me, both strands of my work come from the same place, a fascination with mood, light, and the sense that every landscape, real or imagined, holds its own quiet story.

I offer original paintings, high‑quality giclée prints, and occasionally take on commissions based on personal locations or favourite walks. Whether it’s a woodland scene, a hidden stream or a more imaginative piece, my aim is always to create work that feels honest, calm and connected to the landscape.
